Single-player pirate strategy

Start with one ship. Rule the Seven Seas.

Sail an open sea, discover islands, build colonies, command fleets and recruit legendary captains. You decide where to sail, what to build and whom to fight. No rivals racing you, no waiting around.

The game

Build. Explore. Conquer.

Three pillars shape everything in the game. If a feature does not strengthen one of them, it does not ship.

BUILD

Grow an empire

Claim islands, raise colonies, upgrade buildings and keep a fleet fed and armed. Your economy is a set of choices, not a timer you wait on.

  • Colonies and building upgrades
  • Ships of different classes
  • A tech tree to specialise your empire
EXPLORE

Reward your curiosity

The sea is full of islands, hidden treasure, strange events and dangerous waters. Sail out, see what is there and decide if it is worth the risk.

  • Islands across several regions
  • World events and hidden treasure
  • Ports and factions to meet
CONQUER

Win by strategy

Fight enemy fleets, raid merchants, capture ports and face pirate lords. Battles are about where you place your ship, not how fast you tap.

  • Naval combat built around positioning
  • Legendary captains with their own strengths
  • Boss encounters and a story campaign

Start with a single ship, one captain and a little gold. Grow into fleets, colonies and a name that rival pirate lords fear.

A voyage, in a loop

One more island.

Every session follows a loop that always gives you something to look forward to.

Naval combat

Position, don’t tap.

Your guns fire on their own when an enemy sits inside a broadside arc, so the skill is in how you sail. Line up the arc, read the wind, and time a full-broadside volley when it counts.

  • Steer to bring your arc onto the enemy
  • Enemies telegraph their shots, so you can dodge or punish them
  • Time a special broadside for a heavy volley on both sides
  • Recruit captains whose strengths change how a fleet fights

Fair play

How the game plans to make money.

Free-to-play only works if players trust it. These are the rules the game is being built to, and the reason I am asking whether you would support it.

✓
The campaign is freeThe story campaign is playable in full without spending anything.
✓
No energy meterNo stamina bars that stop you playing and then sell you a refill.
✓
No forced adsAds, if any, are rewarded and opt-in. You choose to watch one.
✓
Cosmetics and a Supporter PackShip skins, flags and sails that change looks only, and a one-time Supporter Pack.
✓
One premium currency, also earnablePieces of Eight can be bought, but free players earn them in play too.
✓
Single-player, so no pay-to-winThere is no PvP in the campaign for money to win.

This is the plan, not a store listing. Nothing is for sale yet, and details may change before launch. Your answers below help decide what is worth building.

Good questions

Before you sail.

Is Rule the Seven Seas available yet?

Not yet. It is in development for Android and is not on Google Play. Join the list for playtest invitations and launch news.

Is it free to play?

The plan is a free-to-play campaign with no energy meter and no forced ads. Optional extras are cosmetics, a one-time Supporter Pack and a premium currency that can also be earned in play.

Is it multiplayer?

No. It is a single-player game, and there is no PvP in the campaign.

Which platforms will it be on?

Android phones and tablets first, with Windows PC supported as a secondary platform. iPhone and iPad are being considered for later, which is why the form asks.

Are the pictures real gameplay?

No. The images on this page are concept art that show the direction. Real screenshots will replace them as the game nears release.

Can you build something like this for me?

Possibly. I take freelance and contract projects, and I am open to talking about selling or licensing things I have built. Email sj@passthebot.dev with “Project enquiry” in the subject.

Who is making it?

An independent developer publishing under the Tidemark Labs name. Questions are welcome at sj@passthebot.dev.
